Marriages (August 28)

A quiet and pretty wedding took place at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Wilbur, when their niece, Miss L. May Wilbur was united in marriage with Mr. Roy G Tarbell.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. H.T. Hill, the young couple standing under a beautiful arch of evergreens in the parlor.  Mr. L.F. Wilbur was best man, and Miss Josephine Tarbell acted as bridesmaid. Only the immediate relatives of bride and groom were present.  After the ceremony and congratulations, a sumptuous feast was served which was heartily enjoyed by all.  The bride was neatly and beautifully attired in a pearl-gray silk, trimmed with white lace, while the groom wore the customary suit of black.  Some valuable and useful presents were presented to the bride by the guests and other friends.  Mr. and Mrs. Tarbell will make their home in this village, where they have a house already furnished.  The young couple are quite popular in this community and have a large circle of friends, who extend congratulations and best wishes.  [Bainbridge Republican, Jan. 28, 1909]

A pleasant home wedding occurred Wednesday, March 6th, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Roys, in Oxford, the contracting parties being their daughter, Emma F., and Alton L Clark, of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY].  About forty guests witnessed the ceremony, which was performed by Rev. T.F. Hall, of Bainbridge.  A bountiful collation was served, after which the happy couple started on a brief wedding tour, bearing with them the best wishes of many friends.  The bride was the recipient of beautiful and useful gifts.    [Notation:  1895]

ROYS - MANZER:  In Oxford, Jan. 15th, 1896, by Rev. Wm. Frisby, George A. Roys and Miss Florence M. Manzer, all of Oxford [Chenango Co., NY].
On Wednesday evening, Jan. 15th, 1896 occurred the marriage of Florence M., eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Manzer, to George A. Roys.  the ceremony was performed by Rev. Mr. Frisby, the couple standing under an arch of evergreens from the center of which was suspended a horseshoe.  The happy couple left the next morning for a visit to friends in Greene, Chenango Forks and Gibson, Pa.  The presents were both useful and costly.  All join in wishing them a long life of usefulness and happiness.

Amid flying snow and howling winds the wedding bells of Guilford [Chenango Co., NY] have been ringing.  Norwithstanding the cold weather a large company of invited friends gathered at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred F Seabold, on Wednesday last, to witness the marriage of Elbert G. Yale and Laura Maude Seabold.  The pleasing event took place at 1 P.M., Rev. M.S. Goodshall of Guilford officiating.  The house was most tastily decorated with evergreens and flowers forming an arch and recess entered through gates and swinging on a framework arranged for the purpose.  These were attended by Master Clayton Smith and Miss Mary Seabold, with Asa Seabold acting as groomsman and Miss Alta Yale as bridesmaid.  The ceremony was both beautiful and impressive.  The refreshments served at the close of the ceremony were worthy of comment.  The presents were numerous and most valuable, including table, chairs, banquet and other lamps, silver tea set, silver knives, forks and spoons, silver cake plates, carpets, bedding, water sets, china ware, clock, etc.  After a most delightful hour spent in social intercourse the happy couple departed for Bainbridge where they took the "flyer" for Albany.  For want of space we do not give names of guests most of whom were from Yaleville, Guilford, Bainbridge, Deposit and Albany.  [Notation:  Feb. 12, 1896]

Miss Gladys Williams, of Sidney [Delaware Co., NY], and Edward Mulwane, formerly of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], were united in marriage January 21, in the Episcopal Church at Owego, with Rev. B.M. Rutledge as the officiating pastor.  They were attended by Miss Gabriele Bonzin, of Unadilla, and Douglas Baldwin, of Bainbridge.  The bride wore a gown of fine yellow net, and Miss Bonzin, a gown of pink satin.  Mr. and Mrs. Mulwane will make their home at 29 Smith street, in Sidney, where Mr. Mulwane is employed by the Scintilla Magneto Co.  Mr. Mulwane was active in the affairs of the B.C.H.S., Class of 1933, and has many friends in the village.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Jan. 27, 1938]
