Miscellaneous, Girl Saves Father, 1908

Bainbridge Girl Proves Herself a Heroine
Unadilla Times, April 1908

Florence Hilborn, the fourteen-year old daughter of W.A. Hilborn of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], by presence of mind and quick action saved his life by warning and partially dragging him from in front of an engine a few evenings ago.  They started to call on a friend just above Bainbridge and walked the track as the nearest way.  Stepping from in front of a passing train, Mr. Hilborn stood on the other track watching the action of a signal and did not see an engine almost upon him on that track.  His daughter did, however, just in time to rush to his rescue, warning and aiding him in such a manner that the engine barely cleared them.
