The funeral of John Harvey who died Thursday morning, March 30, was largely attended at St. Peter's church Saturday afternoon. The Susquehanna Lodge of which the deceased was a member, attended in a body. There were many friends and relatives present from out of town. There was also an abundance of flowers. The remains were placed in the receiving vault in Greenlawn cemetery [Bainbridge, Chenango Co., NY] where Masonic services were held. [Bainbridge Republican, April 6, 1922]
Masonville [Delaware Co., NY]: The funeral of Frank Jones who died very suddenly last Friday was held at the Presbyterian church on Monday April 3rd at 2 p.m. Rev. Roswell Whitman officiated. Burial in the Masonville cemetery. Mr. Jones leaves one daughter Mrs. Z. Miner where he died and one son George at home. Also two brothers, Albert and Harry of Masonville. Mr. Jones was a farmer living about a [--torn--] wife [died] several years ago and since the marriage of his daughter he and his son Geo. lived alone on the farm. On Wednesdays not feeling well he drove down to his daughters to be cared for. On Friday he was taken worse and died about 3 o'clock. He was 57 years of age and had many friends. Miss Mary J. Moore was the eldest of three children born to Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Moore of Oxford [Chenango Co., NY], her birth occurred March 23, 1891, her death took place March 25, 1922, her age being 28 years and 2 days. [Bainbridge Republican, April 6, 1922]
Guilford [Chenango Co., NY]: George Henry Delavan after many weeks of patient suffering, died at his home on Merchant street, April 3rd in his 58th year. Mr. Delevan was born in Guilford Feb. 1st, 1839. He was the son of Nathan and Abigale Delevan. He was united in marriage at Norwich to Miss Maria Kenyon Terry daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Terry of that place. He was a life long member of Christ Episcopal church, a vestryman and was 18 years a Sunday School superintendent, also sang in the choir as long as his health would permit. Among those who survive chiefly to be mentioned is a widow, three sons, Edwin Terry and Bryon Henry of Seneca Falls, Frederick of Philadelphia, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. On Thursday afternoon April 6th the funeral service was held at the late home, Rev. N .S. Boardman officiating after which the body was placed in Sunset Hill cemetery [Guilford, NY]. Guilford [Chenango Co., NY]: The death of Andrew Bryon Thurston occurred Thursday morning, April 6, at 1:30 o'clock, after a long and intense suffering. Mr. Thurston was born at North Guilford, October 22, 1856, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thurston. For the past 13 years he has lived in Guilford conducting a barber shop until health failed. His sister Mrs. Benedict and niece Flora have lived with him and cared for him. He was a member of the Methodist church. Those who survive are two sons Lewis of Oneonta and Linn of San Jose, Cal., two brothers, Joseph of Trestle, George of Maple Grove, a sister Mrs. Mary Benedict. He has two nieces and five nephews still living. A private funeral service was held from his late home at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. N.S. Boardman officiating. The body was taken to Mt. Guilford [Chenango Co., NY]: Again the great reaper has thrust in his sickle and a familiar form has entered the new life that knows no end, Clara Louisa, wife of Lewis M. Kniffin, passed away at her home on Winsor avenue Friday morning, April 14. she was born of New England blood, in the state of Vermont on July 27, 1852, and was the daughter of Elisha and Mary Rogers. Thirty-one years ago the family moved from Sommers, Westchester county, to Roots Corners and later to Guilford village. Early in life the thought of the future life kept knocking at her heart strings and she gave her heart to God and became a faithful and earnest member of the Methodist church. As long as health permitted she attended the house of God. She was a good wife and mother whose life was filled with deeds of kindness and self-sacrifice for those she loved. Among those who survive chiefly to be mentioned, is husband, four daughters, Mary Emma of Guilford; Gertrude Rogers Murray of Binghamton; Mrs. Nettie Murray, Mrs. Lulu Milton Murray and Miss Clara Ethel of Guilford, two brothers, Thomas Rogers of Rockton, Mass., and Julius Rogers of Binghamton; also three grandchildren. The funeral was held at the late home on Monday at 11 o'clock, her pastor, Rev. W.S. York, officiating, after which the remains were taken to the pleasantly situated Sunset Hill cemetery [Guilford, NY] by loving friends to await the dawning of the great day. Bennettsville [Chenango Co., NY]: Mr. Mason Beels of Melody Hill died at his home there last Thursday April 13. burial was made in Bennettsville cemetery Monday, April 17. Mr. Beels was 74 years of age. The cause of death was chronic nephritis. [Bainbridge Republican, April 20, 1922]
Masonville [Delaware Co., NY]: Mr. E.L. Bundy, who has been in poor health for some time past, died on Saturday at 2 p.m., April 15, 1922, aged 74 years. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m., in the M.E. church. Rev. D.L. Jones will officiate; burial in Masonville cemetery. [Bainbridge Republican, April 20, 1922]
George A. Fisher of Delhi [Delaware Co., NY], 72 years old, for many years second deputy attorney general of New York and a native and resident of Delaware county, died Friday, 7th inst. At the home of his daughter Mrs. Winthrop Bright of Swarthmore, Pa. Mr. Fisher's death came as the conclusion of a long period of ill health, which in 1921 necessitated his retirement form his position in Albany. [Bainbridge Republican, April 20, 1922]
Edwin B. Hanford, a native of Unadilla [Otsego Co., NY] died lately at his home in Walton [Delaware Co., NY]. He was 82 years of age and had lived in Walton for 65 years. He is survived by his wife to whom he was married 59 years ago and by a son and daughter. [Bianbridge Republican, april 20, 1922]
The death of Miss Hattie E. Yale occurred at her late home on Bixby street [Bainbridge, Chenango Co., NY] last Friday afternoon April 28. She had been ill for a year and was a great sufferer. She was much better in December and January, and at one time was able to sit up six hours a day. But there came an attack of pleurisy, which finally developed into pneumonia. Miss Yale was born in Yaleville [Guilford, Chenango Co., NY] and would have been sixty-seven years old the 14th of this month. After the death of her father and mother, she and her brother, Merwin, continued to reside on the farm in Yaleville until they moved to this village seven years ago this spring. She was baptized in the stream at Yaleville, and was a member of the old Baptist church there until the transference of the entire membership to the church in this place where she was a regular attendant as long as health permitted. Of a helpful disposition, always patient, thoroughly conscientious, Miss Yale lived a consistent Christian life and was loved by all who knew her. Her life was one of many burdens, many troubles and sorrows, but she endured them al bravely and left behind a helpful influence and a fragrant memory, going to a well earned reward. The funeral was held at the house Monday at 11 a.m., Rev. C.B. Allnatt officiating. Interment was in the Yaleville cemetery. Miss Yale is survived by three brothers, Arthur E. Yale of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Prof. Homer F. Yale of Hartwick, N.Y., and Merwin I. Yale of this village. [Bainbridge Republican, May 4, 1922]
