Haase Family Holds Reunion Celebration
Bainbridge News & Republican, Feb. 14, 1946
The family of the Rev. George Haase was united last Saturday when Charles Haase, former sergeant in the European war, returned for a brief stay from Rochester, where he is taking an 8,000 hour course in Tool Engineering. Betty Haase came home for the occasion from Albany, where she will complete her special course in secretarial work in Albany Business College next week. Her friend, Miss Margie Lemke, of Watervliet, spent the week-end with her as the guest of the family.
Charles' return was timed so as to consult with his brother, Paul Haase, concerning industrial training connected with the G.I. Bill of Rights. Together they just about encircled the globe in Uncle Sam's service, one in the European Theatre, the other in the Pacific area of operations. Together they earned two Good Conduct Medals, some eight or nine bronze or silver stars, and a collection of ribbons of campaign decorations. A family group picture was taken by a local photographer, and a pleasant time was spent feasting and swapping experiences. Charles returned to Rochester Sunday morning, Betty and her friend to Albany, and Paul is awaiting a call to return to Scintilla, where he expects to take up work as a machinist. Mrs. Helen M. Donahe, who completed the family circle, expects to move to newly remodeled apartments on the Donahe farm west of Bainbridge in the near future.
