Henry Legard Norton

At the home of Cory Burdick, five miles east of this village [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], Wednesday [January 15, 1913] occurred the death of Henry Legard Norton, aged 75 years. Deceased was unmarried and there are no survivors. He was born in the town of Norwich and was a son of Jesse and Amy Norton. the funeral will be held from the residence of Cory Burdick Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Dr. James A. Monk of this village officiating. Burial will be made in the cemetery at White Store [Chenango Co., NY].
Lucena Norton
Chenango Union, October 24, 1889
South New Berlin [Chenango Co. NY]: Mrs. Lucena Norton died at her home on the east side of the river, at 8 o'clock Sunday evening. She was a respected widow lady, and leaves three orphan children to mourn her loss. Funeral at the Baptist chuch, Tuesday at 12 o'clock.
Marshall Norton

A man named Norton [Marshall Norton], who lives between White Store and Norwich [Chenango Co., NY], while at work about two weeks ago, carrying a heavy beam, stepped on a nail which cut through the side of his boot making a bad bruise. It pained him considerably, but in a few days commenced to heal over and was soon in a condition to allow him to go to work. While engaged at work on Ezra Lull's new house between this village and Morris, he was taken with a severe pain in his side, and on Tuesday last was compelled to quit work. He was taken to Morris and after an examination, Dr. Still told him that he was coming down with the lockjaw. He was taken from Morris to his home on Friday, and about one o'clock on Saturday he died. Dr. Avery of Norwich assisted Dr. Still, both doing all they could for the unfortunate man. His sufferings were very severe. His funeral was held on monday, a very large number of people being present. He left a wife and two small chidlren. Mr. Norton was a relative of Charles Curtis of this place.
Nathan Norton

North Guilford [Chenango Co., nY]: Nathan Norton died at his home here Monday, May 11, after a very severe illness. Deceased was about 30 years of age. He is survived by a father, mother, wife and three small children.
Cynthia Davenport

McDonough [Chenango Co., NY]: Entered into rest Friday, May 5, Cynthia, wife of Richard S. Davenport, aged 67 years. In the death of Mrs. Davenport, McDonough loses one of its most noble women. For several years she has been the president of the W.C.T.U. A great promoter of high thought and action in the children of the town. The funeral was held from the house Thursday. Interment was in the village cemetery. An adopted daughter, Mrs. Mamie Engberg, known in the musical world as Madam Davenport Engberg. Frances Daugeux, who has lived with Mrs. Davenport ten years. and Mr. Davenport are left to mourn her loss.
Jesse S. Norton

The death of Jesse S. Norton, 35 Locust street [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], well known resident of this city, occurred Thursday night in Chenango Memorial Hospital after an extended period of failing health. Born in Holmesville [Chenango Co., NY], March 15, 1876, Mr Norton was the son of Marshall and Lucena (Sherman) Norton. He had been a resident of this city for 26 years and all of that time was a valued employee of The Norwich Pharmacal Company and a member of the Quarter Century Club of that company. His interests were centered in his home and family to whom he was greatly devoted. His marriage to Mary Loomis Breed occurred August 4, 1936. She survives as do three step-children, Mrs. Lucy Hall, Mrs. Birdella Eicke and Claude P. Breed, all of this city; one niece, Mrs. Robert Patton, Oneonta; three nephews, Marshall Aldrich of Washington, William Aldrich of Seneca Falls and Russel Brooks of East Homer; also one cousin, Mrs. Addie Hardie of Tavares, Florida. Funeral services are to be held at the George J. Devine Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Rev. Harold S. Knight of the First Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be made in the family plot at Evergreen cemetery, White Store [Chenango Co., NY]. The body of Mr. Norton rests at the Devine Funeral Home.
