Who is there living in this part of the State that has not heard of the store of Hard & Peck? It is an old landmark. Mr. Peck survived Mr. Hard a number of years. In the prime of life, Capt. Peck was an active businessman, was honored with very many responsible offices by his fellow men and always enjoyed the reputation of an honorable Christian gentleman. He by a number of years outlived all those who started life's journey with him. He has now gone to his reward, and his works remain. When our fathers thus pass over the river it is befitting for us to cherish their good qualities and emulate their Christian examples.
