Marriage
The marriage of one of the most estimable young ladies of our village [Unadilla, Otsego Co. NY], Miss Jennie A. Thorne to Mr. Chester H. Belknap took place at the residence of the bride's parents last Wednesday evening. The marriage service was brief but very appropriately rendered by Rev. James Ryder and a goodly number of the direct relatives of the bride and groom were present upon the happy occasion. Miss Agnes E. DeForest acted as bridesmaid attended by Mr. D.H. Loomis. In the room where the nuptials were consummated, a beautiful miniature pavilion was erected over the entrance being suspended a horseshoe wrought in flowers with the motto above, "Long life and prosperity." After the marriage, hearty congratulations were extended of which the rich presents were a pleasing evidence and a sumptuous wedding feast added to the pleasures of the evening. The bride and groom remained with their friends the entire evening, deferring for the present their bridal tour.
On Friday evening a reception was tendered the happy couple at the residence of Mr. E.C. Belknap, father of the bridegroom; also, on Tuesday evening at Mr. A.J. Thorne's by their many young associates. With the best wishes of hosts of friends, the journey of their married life opens most auspiciously and full of happy promise.

H.W. Dewey on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Smith expressed their thanks in a very able manner, after which they were all invited to the house of Mr. J.E.
