Our Cora dear has gone to rest, / We ne'er shall see her more / Until we meet beyond the grave, / On that brighter, happier shore.

For this cold earth has easily chilled / This little budding flower, / And taken it above, to bloom / In that fairer, sunnier bower.

Oh! sadly, sadly do we miss, / Her sweet and sunny smile / Her pattering feet and pratling voice / Which all our thoughts beguile.

We loved our darling little child, / But in yonder's grave she lies; / She's gone to be an angel bright, / With Hattie in the skies.

And when life's toils with us are o'er, / And earthly ties are riven. / May we with darling Cora find, / A blissful home in Heaven.

LEACH:  In this village [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], Sept. 17th, of injuries received from a fall, Mr. Willard Leach, aged 52 years.

A sad accident occurred at the New Free Will Baptist Church on Birdsall Street [Norwich, Chenango Co., NY], on Thursday afternoon last, which resulted in the death of a respected citizen.  Mr. Willard Leach, a mason by occupation, who had completed the job of plastering the church edifice, was engaged, alone, in taking down the scaffolding, and at five o'clock was seen about the building.  At six o'clock, or a little later, a son of Mr. Page, who resides in the neighborhood, entered the building, and found Mr. Leach sitting upon the floor, in an apparently unconscious condition, with his head terribly bruised and swollen.  He immediately gave the alarm, when help was promptly in attendance, and the wounded man carried to his residence. Several physicians were summoned, and it was found that he had received a heavy blow over the left eye, fracturing the skull. A portion of the bone was removed by Dr. Avery, with the hope that the pressure upon the brain would be relieved, but all efforts to restore the sufferer to consciousness proved unavailing and he rapidly sunk until death closed the scene, between two and three o'clock on Friday morning.

Upon an examination of the scene of the accident, it was found that a large portion of the scaffolding had been removed and immediately over the spot where Mr. Leach fell, one of the boards composing the scaffold - which was of inch stuff, and cross-grained - was broken, evidently by his weight.  He was undoubtedly precipitated head foremost to the floor, fourteen feet below.  A pool of blood was found at this spot, probably from his nose. When help arrived, he was found lying several feet from this point, having groped his way along, leaving the bloody marks of his fingers upon the supports to the scaffold, which he had doubtless grasped in his last, agonizing efforts to reach the door.

The deceased was an old resident of Norwich, and well known to the public, as an honest, upright man in his dealings, quiet and unassuming in his manner, a good citizen, an obliging neighbor, a kind husband and father, and a consistent Christian.  His melancholy death casts a gloom upon all who knew him, and his loss is mourned by a large circle of relatives.  He leaves a wife and one daughter.  His age was 52 years. We are glad to learn that the deceased had an insurance of $2,000 upon his life.

The funeral was attended on Sunday, by a very large concourse of people, including the Masonic fraternity, and a number of the National Guard, in uniform, he having been a member of both organizations.
