 The Pilot, Cazenovia, NY, July 14, 1819

Death

Gen. Melancton Lloyd Woolsey of Plattsburgh [Clinton Co. NY], was born 8th May 1758 and died 28th June 1819, aged 61 years, 1 month and 20 days, at Trenton, Oneida County [NY] being on a visit to his son, Com. Woolsley of Sacketts Harbor.  He has left a fond wife & 7 affectionate children, with a numerous circle of other relations and friends to lament his loss.  He died a Christian!  Gen. Woolsey was an officer throughout our Revolutionary war.  He entered the service at the call of his country, when a youth, and served with reputation to himself and country.  U. Patriot

News Item

One Cent Reward:  Ran away from the subscribed, an indented apprentice girl named Madreen Carter.  All persons are forbid harboring or trusting her on my account.  The above reward will be paid to any person that will apprehend and return her to me, but no charges paid.  Dated at Cazenovia, July 20, 1819.  Jacob Ten Eyck

Death

At Cleaveland, (Ohio) on the 6th ult. in a fit of apoplexy, Col. Thomas S. Webb author of the Mason's Monitor of Boston, Mass.  He was on his way to Columbus, where he was about establishing himself.  In the death of Mr. Webb, the fraternity have been deprived of one of its brightest jewels.

WHITE:  In Oneida Castle [Oneida Co. NY] Jan. 25, Louis White aged 40 years.

BELL:  In Pratt's Hollow [Madison Co. NY], Jan. 25 of typhoid pneumonia, Rosalia [Bell] wife of Walter Bell and eldest daughter of the late Jonas and Julia C. Bridge in the 35th year of her age.

DIMMICK:  In Smyrna [Chenango Co. NY] suddenly, Cyrus E. [Dimmick] only son of F.E. Dimmick Esq. aged 20 years.

Smyrna, Chenango Co. NY:  Cyrus E. Dimmick, a young man of a respectable family, died suddenly on Monday morning last, from the effects of an overdose of hydrate of chloral.

BRIGGS:  In Bridgeport [Onondaga Co. NY], Jan. 21, Mrs. A.P. Briggs aged 68 years.

PLATT:  In Owego [Tioga Co. NY], Jan. 14, of enlargement of the heart, Adaline E. [Platt] wife of F.E Platt and sister of Mrs. J.F. Phelps of Cazenovia [Madison Co. NY].

GREENMAN:  In Shabany Grove, Ill., Jan. 14, Betsey Greenman wife of the late Gardner Greenman, aged 76 years.

HARTSHORN:  In Hamilton [Madison Co. NY] Jan. 22, Mrs. A. Minerva Hartshorn wife of Horace P. Hartshorn, aged 48 years 9 months and 15 days.

EDDY:  In Hamilton [Madison Co. NY] Jan. 21, Miss Adella L. Eddy aged 23 years, 5 months and 9 days.

Hamilton, Madison Co. NY:  the funeral of Miss Adella L. Eddy took place from the Methodist Church on Sunday last.  she was a compositor on the Republican.

PENTACOST:  In Smyrna [Chenango Co. NY] Jan. 14, Mrs. Jane Pentacost aged 76 years.

SNELL:  In Stockbridge, Jan. 18 of heart disease, Betsey [Snell] relict of George Snell and daughter of the late Joseph Stam, aged 64 years.
