Marriages (June 16)

The Rev. and Mrs. George Haase, of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Helen M. Haase, to Adrian Donahe, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Donahe, also of Bainbridge.  No date has been set for the wedding.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Oct. 1, 1942]
 
Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Gladys Hawkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hawkins, of Bainbridge [Chenango Co., NY], to Sergeant Louis DeSalvo, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. DeSalvo, of Sidney [Delaware Co., NY].  The ceremony took place on Sept. 16 in Columbus, Ga.  After spending two weeks in Georgia, the bride returned to the home of her parents where she will stay and continue her work at the Scintilla Magneto Corp. in Sidney where she is employed.  The bridegroom is stationed at Fort Benning, Ga.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Oct. 8, 1942]
 
Winsor - Marsh:  Thursday evening, Sept. 3, at Marathon, occurred the marriage of Mrs. Marion M. Marsh, of Coventry [Chenango Co., NY], to Louis T. Winsor, of Guilford [Chenango Co., NY].  The Rev. Ira Sherman was the officiating clergyman.  Although this item comes a month late, it is of interest to their many friends in this community and throughout the country, where both are well known.  Mrs. Winsor was a former resident of Guilford for many years.  Since moving to Coventry, she has kept alive her interest in the activities of our various organizations.  She is a member of the Guilford Woman's Club and re-elected chairman of the "Sewing Branch" of the Red Cross local chapter.  Mr. Winsor has served the Town of Guilford as road commissioner for many years. Hoffman - Gott:  Friday evening, Sept. 25, at 9 o'clock occurred the marriage of Miss Ada Gott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gott, to Robert Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hoffman, all of Guilford [Chenango Co., NY].  The Rev. Charles J. Dempsey, of the Methodist church, was the officiating clergyman.  Both Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman are popular Guilford young people.  Witnesses were Mrs. William Gott and Mrs. Charles Hoffman.  Best wishes are extended to them from their schoolmates and friends.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Oct. 9, 1942]

Palmer - Fitch:  Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fitch on the Lake Road occurred the marriage of their daughter, Lillian, to Charles Palmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Palmer, of Oxford [Chenango Co., NY].  The Rev. Norman Graves, of Oxford, officiated at the ceremony, which took place in the presence of the immediate members of both families.  Witnesses were Bernice Cunningham and Raymond Cunningham, of Oxford.  The bride is a graduate of Guilford Central School and is one of the popular young ladies of our village.  Mr. Palmer is a former Guilford boy, having lived here with his parents for many years.  prior to moving to Oxford.  Congratulations and best wishes are extended to them.  they will make their home in Oxford.  [Bianbirdge News & Republican, Oct. 15, 1942]

The marriage of James Scott, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. James Scott, of Afton [Chenango Co., NY], and Miss Audrey Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rose, of Nineveh [Broome Co., NY], took place on Friday evening, Sept. 25, at 8:00 o'clock at the Methodist parsonage in Bainbridge.  Mr. and Mrs. Scott were attended by Guy Leonard, of West Bainbridge, and Miss Frances Rose, of Nineveh, sister of the bride.  Mr. Scott is a machine worker at the American Separator in Bainbridge and Mrs. Scott is an inspector at the Scintilla plant.  The young couple will make their home in Nineveh.  [Bainbridge News & Republican, Oct. 15, 1942]
